Royal Pains Review: What's Next?

Evan and Paige need new digs, Divya and Jeremiah consider re-entering the dating world and Hank Bonds it up in Monte Carlo on Boris' behalf.

Indeed, Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 4 was quite the grab bag of plot lines, which made for an interesting hour of television.

Boris’ continued perversion of Hank’s medical services for reasons unknown to anyone but Boris annoyed me for a time, especially when he began to feign dementia.

But, yet again, and in lieu of shouldering any responsibility in his own affairs, he flew Hank to Monte Carlo in an attempt to try and flush out the bank contact.

While it worked, you really have to give it to Hank for blurring the lines even more by exacerbating and straight up fabricating some his captor's symptoms.

And the praise for our Hamptonites doesn't stop there, as Jeremiah and Divya deserve a round of applause for the steps they took towards new phases in their lives - both pushing themselves out of their comfort zones.

It appears my dreams of Divya and Jeremiah potentially getting together have either been completely dashed or temporarily put on hold, as they shared a frank conversation between themselves about the hurdles they faced when deciding whether to get back out there.

Of course Divya would choose to hide behind motherhood, but Jeremiah - inspired by the firefighters they treated this week - decided to take up lifting to potentially impress his new lady friend. He should have left his pickup line at home, though.

Someone who could have definitely benefited from a pick-me-up this week was Evan, whose overzealous Hunger Games theme for Emma's welcome party got he and Paige evicted from their home. I have to say it was pretty entertaining (and initially shocking) to see him and Paige rocking the Capitol style.

Luckily, their therapist had some spare space that they could move into. And it seems the new place will be a great fit... for just them. Not going to lie, I felt kinda bad for Emma, but she seemed fine with the new arrangements.

Overall, tonight's episode was a solid one. Which story line was your favorite?

Evan and Paige needed new digs, Divya and Jeremiah considered re-entering the dating world and Hank Bonds it up in Monte Carlo on Boris' behalf.

All these plots made up the bulk of Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 4.

Jeremiah and Divya treated a firehouse worth of sick firefighters, but at the same time both picked up inspiration to re-intiate their dating lives.

Boris enlisted Hank to do his bidding, only to put him in danger that caused him to have to stretch the line of medical ethics to save himself.

Evan and Paige put Emma before themselves, but the efforts left them homeless for a spell until they were taken in by their marriage therapist.

Tonight was a testament to all the ways the concierge business can go wrong.

Symphony is trying to push HankMed out of the market by quadrupling their lab and testing fees. Some patients are faking their illnesses, others are having their medical mishaps exploited.

And all of these examples took place during Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 5.

Saving a Patient

Is it possible? Could HankMed really be in its final days?

It was certainly starting to look that way when Jeremiah delivered the sobering news to Evan. But, in true Evan fashion, he had a few tricks up his sleeve - or so it seemed.

Here were the three times I thought HankMed would get a financial backer to cover the cost differences:

  1. The (suspected) mob family. Ray Mazzarino was able to hand Hank a stack after saving his life. One might have thought he might follow through on the offer to "put the kids" through school by offering to buy into HankMed or something. At least they got him on retainer!
  2. Ricky White. If his legs are his life and Hank saved them, doesn't that technically mean Hank saved his life and Ricky could put up the cash? I would think so; but apparently the writers didn't agree. I digress.
  3. The poser former ballerina. Now if there was anybody who should be putting their funny money to good use, it should have been this lady! Nice catch on Emma's part that she was lying about her affliction just to collect cash.

But since Emma is in the mix now, how about we talk about the little stunner that was her nose rub? Yes, her nose rub. It was that tiny tell that may have actually given away what many have suspected from day one: that she was in it for the long con. Could it be a misdirect? Possibly.

It is a little disappointing, though, as I was in the process of signing up for Team Emma when she slipped up. I loved seeing her and Hank bonding, assuming it wasn't an act.

What certainly wasn't an act was that Paige and her boss, Berger, got fired! I wasn't sure what she was going to do next, especially since, at the time, it appeared HankMed was out of options. Lucky for Paige, though, Mazzarino doesn't stick to the establishment, and Lawson & Berger (or is it Berger & Lawson) might have a chance to make it.

So that only leaves us with the final question of what HankMed will do next. Do they have what it takes to start their own hospital? Will they call it a concierge hospital?

While we wait for answers, you weigh in on who you thought might foot the HankMed bill.

Hank treated three patients this week on Royal Pains, one who faked their illnesses, one who had their medical mishaps exploited and an alleged mob boss.

Jeremiah and Evan got a shocker when Symphony revealed they would quadruple lab and testing fees vital to HankMed's business and forcing them to re-evaluate their business model.

Emma and Hank bonded over breakfast and running, but a storm began to brew when he got a subtle indication that she was being deceitful about her intentions in the Hamptons.

And all of this took place during Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 5!

Royal Pains Review: Risky Business

$

It seems everything revolved around Ray Mazzarino on Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 6.

He has his hand in a little bit of every HankMed associate's life. He's helping Evan and Jeremiah find the space HankMed needs to expand, enlisting Paige's help to decorate and Hank to treat his head chef.

Roots, hard work and family are great tenants to build a business on, but from what we've seen of Ray, I'm not sure HankMed should be putting their stock in this guy.

It's definitely a little scary to see how much influence he's gaining the potential to wield with HankMed.

Think of this: If Evan should decide down the line that this deal with Ray is bad news, all his new capital and equipment for the diagnostic center critical to keeping HankMed open is dependent upon Ray. Without it, HankMed is sunk.

To keep HankMed under his thumb, Ray could very well threaten Evan with directing clients of Paige's new business elsewhere. They are trading being independent contractors paying more to use Symphony's services for being under the rather oppressive thumb of Ray Mazzarino in more areas than just HankMed.

I know what I'd choose.

I'd also choose something else because there is something seriously about to happen in Paige and Evan's marriage. It seems the attitude he gets around Ray, however sudden and out of nowhere, is that of a dominating partner. He needs to back off and let Paige do what she does best; it got her where she is today and she seems to be doing just fine.

He constantly jeopardizes his marriage to her and I can't help but think it's going to take a toll eventually.

But even while there's some serious heaviness going on on the business side, there are still some nice moments for relationships going down.

Among them, Hank and Emma are quickly becoming a favorite. While I totally believe she should fess up to leaking info and photos to SnarkHampton, I really enjoy the dynamic between the two. It was really intriguing to me when she brought up the fact that Hank doesn't really have anyone to bounce things off of. Do you think that's true?

I also enjoyed Hank and Divya sharing a moment on the patio when he gave us a recap of Divya's growth over the past few seasons and her decision to incorporate tradition into her life - and Sashi's - on her own terms. It was also clearly a great way to center Divya's thoughts on Sashi's nanny and what the real problem was for her.

Topping my list of best relationships, though, has to be Jeremiah and her new lady friend. She is adorable! Not to mention the fact she's getting Jeremiah to loosen up and change his perspective a bit. I am still trying to figure out what her purpose is in the bigger picture of things, but I really like seeing where this is going.

But here's the real important question: should HankMed do business with Ray, or is it bad news bears for the team?

Evan and Jeremiah continue to pursue new avenues for HankMed to get out from under Symphony’s thumb, including working with Ray Mazzarino to procure a space for their expansion.

Divya's search for the perfect caregiver for Sashi continued, while Hank began to contemplate how he could better take care of and show Emma there's more to life than her gig at the local restaurant.

Evan, bent on creating the next great empire, oversteps his boundaries when it comes to Paige's new design endeavor.

And it all took place during Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 6!

Royal Pains Review: How to Have It All

From beginning to end, Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 7 featured a little bit of everything, There was medical drama, romance, revelations and skinny dipping.

Welcome to another week in the Hamptons!

You knew when it started with Calvin Harris' "Summer" playing in the background it was going to be a good time, but it wasn't long until we found out that Emma is still up to no good working for this mysterious and aptly named "Oz."

It seems to be going okay for now, but I'm not sure this thing she's going is on the up and up.

When Jeremiah helps out one of her burlesque friends, he grows closer to Vivianna.

Paige learns something that complicates her and Russell's new business, mainly that he stole a rug. But apparently this wasn't just any rug, it was an expensive one that he lied to Paige about and said was beyond repair. This is definitely NOT a good sign for their business and I truly wonder how Paige is going to handle it.

Then again, what are the chances Russell snagged one of his own that was also one of a kind? I don't quite remember the full pattern, but there's a good chance there could be more than one rug out here.

Evan continued to feel the fallout of going into business with Ray, even though it seems to be benefiting HankLab. He got the MRI machines pre-approved even though they should not have been allowed at all in the space. It may seem like Ray is up to something, but perhaps we should have a little faith.

He is helping save HankMed, after all.

While Evan and Paige struggled with partners, Hank struggled with his little sister. Interestingly enough, he attributes his inability to let Emma be a teenager from the childhood he missed when he assumed the responsibilities his father left behind when he took off.

But leave it to Evan to not only man up and make business decisions without Hank; he even managed to convince him to take part in some irresponsible behavior!

Speaking of irresponsible, it seems Jeremiah also threw caution to the wind when he lip-locked with Vivianna after treating her friend. I have to say I am proud of him for making such a bold move. And that wasn't even the only bold move he made this installment, as he also gave Divya a much-needed pept alk.

Divya's need to have it all made it nearly impossible for her to be happy either part-time or fulltime with HankMed. But leave it to Jeremiah to roll up with a great pep talk about all the ways in which Divya has defied the odds and expectations since she started out. Nice move, Jeremiah!

There was a lot of good teamwork going on this week, but which partnership do you think is more problematic: Paige's or Evan's?

Paige's business is taking off, until she realizes her partner might be a klepto. Meanwhile, Evan struggles with his decision to go into business with Ray, which actually proves beneficial to HankLab in more ways than he anticipates.

Hank comes to terms with the fact that he had all the responsibility as a child, and Evan steps up to take control and allow Hank the freedom to let loose.

Jeremiah gets to first base with Vivianna after he treats her friend from the Burlesque club next door.

Divya tries to decide between going part-time with HankMed and being with Sashi, realizing that having it all may be her most difficult task yet.

Royal Pains Review: Surprise, Surprise

Didn't see any of that coming? Neither did we!

And that's probably why Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 8 was one of the better episode coming down the back stretch of Royal Pains Season 6.

There were hot guys, deception, romance and at least one kleptomaniac - or can we even call Russell that?

The shockers started with Hank's lover, Charlotte, appearing in the Hamptons. I have to say, I was pretty surprised to have that story thrown in there and I'm not sure in what way it will contribute to Hank's character growth as of yet.

This initial introduction was just enough for me to get the chance to find out what the deal with her is. It's kind of a nice twist she's blind, but it allowed for too many moments of blatant insensitivity from Evan, which is actually par for the course.

Do I want to continue to see Hank and Charlotte moving forward? Still hard to say.

It has been a while since we saw Hank in a stable relationship, so it might be nice to see how he is now, as opposed to who he was when he dated Jill or the few other choice females since whose names are now lost upon me and likely many of you Hamptonites out there.

Another idea thrown out there that was a little left-field was that Emma, who at least until now has spent a considerable amount of time behind the camera, is now the object of SnarkHamptons affections - or at least gossip. Suddenly she's being invited to events out of the blue and offered sponsorship in the form of swanky Hamptons swag.

Perhaps she will even be courted by this Cinco fellow. I would keep him, he buys his lady shoes! Granted, we know it was as an apology for his sister's associates' behavior over he shoes, but, come on, what a winner!

I have to say, though, I think this whole thing she's got going on with "The Wizard" (as I will now unaffectionately refer to Oz) has got to stop. The guy is obsessed with getting his "pics" while she's at the event. Maybe she could snap something if he stopped texting her every five minutes!

But, seriously, I am just getting the idea the dude is dangerous, while at the same time thinking it will turn out to be some fifteen year old girl behind a computer somewhere. Where do you land on the Oz issue?

On a lighter note, I was kind of a fan of Paige and Evan enlisting Bob to do an intervention with Russel over the rug. That was pretty entertaining. What was even more so was Russel essentially giving Paige a tour of all the things he re-appropriated from previous clients.

I would be interested in seeing what in that home actually belongs to him!

But perhaps the moment that had me yelling at the television the most was when Divya walked out of the hospital and watched the cash exchange between Vivianna and Jeremiah. We know it was a harmless payback for concert tickets, but with Vivianna dressed the way she was and the late night exchange in a dark alley, we all know that Divya must have thought she was a prostitute.

While and unfortunate perception, it will no doubt be one Divya will find herself compelled to address and how Jeremiah responds will likely end up being a GIF-worthy moment.

So, whose story line surprised you the most, Hamptonites?

Emma became the talk of the Hamptons, but the attention may have gotten her into more trouble, when she gets invited to a party where some less than savory activities take place.

Evan, Paige and Bob confront Russel about his rug theft, which only encouraged Russel to tell Paige the whole truth, which might have been more than she could handle.

Divya and Jeremiah treated a woman desiring to be a mom, while Jeremiah's increasingly secretive behavior causes Divya to become suspicious. In an inopportune moment, she sees Jeremiah and Vivianna together, and quickly gets the wrong idea.

But perhaps the biggest shocker of the hour came courtesy of Charlotte, a red-haired beauty who had a history with Hank who showed up to the Hamptons to see him.

Indeed, Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 8 was jam-packed with juicy plot lines and you can re-live them all when you watch Royal Pains online.

Royal Pains Review: Heartburn

It's Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 9 and finally HankLab is officially open for business. It didn't open a moment too soon!

Hank and Divya treated a scent connoisseur named Sam, while Divya treated a nail artist named Laura with heart problems.

In the meantime, Emma had some heart problems of her own when CInco stopped responding to her texts; and Jeremiah's relationship ended after Divya poked her nose where it didn't belong.

And even with the opening of HankLab, SnarkHampton managed to send Evan into a tizzy when a post appeared that referred to him as old.

We'll start with the one thing that seemed to be going right this episode: Hank and Charlotte. She has successfully completed her first surgery and will apparently be taking some time to head back to California to deal with some business. I

am liking the idea of Hank having a solid relationship with a good woman and I definitely am getting to like Charlotte a little more each week.

I have to say, it was truly those last few seconds that had me saying "OMG" out loud. Then again, the way Jeremiah approached the situation, it was hard for one not to suspect that Jeremiah might ask her to move out in his moment of anguish. It was also equally likely that he was about to receal she had already been deported - that would have been particularly awful.

Vivianna had a much more important place in Jeremiah's heart than I expected this soon. Of course he totally deserves it!

After all, he had a hardcore crush on Divya from the moment he arrived in the Hampons, but was repeatedly rebuffed. Even so, he still allowed her to move in with him throughout the course of her pregnancy and Sashi's first year of life. That's some pretty big stuff from someone who used have a major crush on you!

But it makes me wonder if Divya isn't expecting to retain that spot of leading lady in Jeremiah's life. I don't think DIvya is doing this consciously, I actually think she doesn't realize. She always wants to know what's going on in his inner life.

Speaking of inner life, Evan's inner life got a serious wake up call when SnarkHampton snapped an unflattering photo of him and Paige at the new seafood place. I have never heard of #BOF before, but can I just say that as an avid Tweet-er, hashtagging "Boring Old Farts" has never been - and hopefully never will be - a thing? Good thing this crisis was short lived.

As was Emma's potentialy spat with Cinco. He really does seem to be sweet on Emma and we've all managed to leave behind our chargers while on a yacht trip every now and then, right? No harm, no foul, and everything is back to normal. For now.

When might it not get back to normal? When a still nameless, faceless bully is targeting your family on SnarkHampton like Oz. Really starting to think they gave this mysterious person this name for a reason. What do you think Hamptonites?

Hold that thought and tell me whether or not you think this Oz will do some serious damage to HankMed's image?

Royal Pains Review: Get Back

$

This week's installment was jam-packed.

Some events had lasting consequences, others we're still wondering about, but it all helped Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 10 to fly by.

From Russell's quest to regain Paige's trust, to Divya's attempts to strengthen and repair her relationships, it's becoming clear how the back end of Royal Pains Season 6 could shake out.

Let's start with what was probably the funniest part of the episode, which occurred as Russell tried to return all his questionably acquired treasures to their rightful owners. In the end, it led HankMed to their latest patient, who had "Airport Malaria." As if I needed another reason to be wary of the airport!

All that aside, the concept of getting something back trust was a recurring theme in this installment.

Others desperate to get something back? Jeremiah and Divya. Jeremiah, his relationship with Vivianna, and Divya her relationship with Jeremiah. They both sent counsel to help aid Vivianna, though it was Divya's who made it there in time to get Vivianna the help she needed at her immigration hearing.

But then that bombshell dropped. You know the one. The one where Vivianna hadn't been completely honest with Jeremiah and had been accepted to physical therapy school in Tulsa. I had to say I was a little disappointed. But you won't believe what my next thought was:

"So does this mean Jeremiah and Divya could technically be back on?"

More than that, I am pretty hurt for Jeremiah. He seemed to handle it well, but I wonder if he won't realize that Divya was the one who hired the attorney to help Vivianna and have a changed heart when she returns home. One can hope!

Yeah, I ship them in a ridiculous way. I don't know why. You can tell they really care about each other, even if they aren't the best at showing it. And when they do, it often doesn't play well. I have hope, though.

Want to know who I don't have any hope for? Ray. He really blew it almost getting Paige shot. Not that he could have known someone was about to shoot him, but his entanglements have always been a problem. Now it seems like it could put everything HankMed has in jeopardy.

And when HankMed needs her most, it looks like Divya may be stuck in Argentina for longer than she planned. I didn't think Lorena was a snake, but I have a feeling Divya will be more warty the next time someone asks her to come visit in their home country. If she ever gets out of Argentina, that is.

But even after all this, I still have to ask, have you ever heard of "Airport Malaria?"

At the same time, Hank accompanied Boris to Argentina to test someone for the genetic markers that plague Boris and his disease. Will it lead to a cure?

It appears that HankMed is once again an orphan organization.

After the shooting that almost put Paige in the crosshairs, Evan was forced to part ways with Ray.

But that wasn't all Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 11 had to offer us, Hamptonites!

After working together to treat a patient, and after Divya escaped Lorena's lonely Argentinean villa, she and Jeremiah made steps towards repairing their relationship, which I lamented over the loss of in my review of Royal Pains Season 6 Episode 10.

What really struck me about this makeup, though, was the fact he took her hand. I find that to be just past the friend-zone line. And it didn't seem like either party was too keen on letting go, either.

Yes, I'm a Sacdare shipper. And until someone tells me otherwise, I'm going to take that as a sign that their relationship could go either way at this point.

One relationship that is definitely over, though, is that between HankMed and Ray. Not only did Evan rightly decide to cut ties with him after Paige almost got shot, Hank decided to drop him as a patient.

Unfortunately for Evan, this means that HankLab will have to close its doors and set up shop elsewhere.

Interestingly, Evan is pursuing Boris as a potential partner for the project, not knowing that Boris is considering expanding his foundation to aid in the research of other "orphan" diseases not unlike his own. One wonders how that won't impact a potential investment.

Another "orphan" who might be in jeopardy is little miss Emma, who is now stealing prescription pads from big brother Hank. This chick was starting to grow on me, now I can't wait for all her lies to be found out and she be set completely straight by someone around there.

How long till this girl gets set straight?
